Environmental Committee
The Environmental Committee have signed up to take part in A Rocha UK's award scheme (see https://ecochurch.arocha.org.uk/ for more information) as a way for us to audit our performance and suggest ways in which we could improve. We are very pleased to have been awarded a bronze award.
Our church members have agreed on an environmental policy.
We would love to add a few more volunteers to the team so, if you would like to help, please talk to Norman How or Mercy Coupe-Gunter. We meet on the second Sunday of each month.
In April 2023, the group led a service on the theme "In Step With the Spirit in a Changing Climate" with guest speaker Revd Dr Dave Gregory, Baptist Missioner for Science and Environment, Convenor of Baptist Union Environment Network (BUEN).
Dave Gregory presents a series of short films called 'God Saw That It Was Good', for BUEN, which you can find at
https://www.gstiwg.co.uk/.
Toilet Twinning
The first of the church toilets to be twinned is the one just inside the front entrance of the church. This has been twinned with a toilet in the Tharparkar district of Pakistan.
For more information, and to find out how to twin your own toilet, visit https://toilettwinning.org/.
Come along to the monthly volunteer mornings at Mill Park, Long Buckby on Saturday mornings. See Jayne Dyne for more information.

How Do You Travel to Church?
The Environmental Committee would like to encourage people to consider car sharing, or maybe cycling to church and making use of the nearby bicycle rack.
St Andrews church in Rugby town centre holds Sustainable Saturdays from 10am-2pm on the 1st Saturday of the month. Stalls with eco-friendly sellers and demonstrations.
Also at St Andrews in Rugby is the Repair Cafe from 10 until 2 on the 3rd Saturday of the month.

L is for Lifestyle
This small and very practical little book, published by InterVarsity Press is recommended by A Rocha to anyone wishing to live a gospel focussed life who cares about God’s wonderful planet Earth. Each short chapter is headed by letter of the alphabet (“A is for Activist…B is for bananas...”)
Ruth Valerio gives us fresh and creative ideas, inviting us to walk humbly and simply in ways to protect what God has given us and as far as possible prevent the diabolical landslide into man-made global warming and potential crisis. It is available from Amazon in paperback and kindle editions.
